Music

Music

  • First United Methodist Church Praise Team is made up of people of all ages who have a heart for ministry through music. The Praise Team uses a wide-variety of music to praise God, to make a joyful noise to Him, to ask for His guidance, direction and healing in life. We worship God, spend time in prayer and fellowship. Practice times vary, but this fall the Praise Team will practice two Sunday nights a month, and every Sunday morning from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The Praise Team leads worship at the 10:45 a.m. Contemporary Service, (second service), each week. We also provide special music at both the 8:15 a.m. Traditional service and 10:45 a.m. Contemporary service throughout the year. The Praise Team is directed by Cheryl Armstrong.

    Chancel

  • Chancel Choir is an adult choir of men’s and women’s voices. All are welcome to join in singing God’s praises. The Chancel Choir provides a variety of traditional sacred choral music. The group performs at our Traditional Service at 8:15 a.m. and also provides occasional special music for the 10:45 Contemporary Worship Service. We join with other Music Ministry groups from First United Methodist Church for special music during Christmas and Easter seasons. The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the church.

  • Men of God is an adult choir of men’s voices. Through music we offer a personal sacrifice of praise to God and strive to be a blessing to others in the congregation.  Practices are on Wednesday nights at 7:30 pm., usually just two to three Wednesdays before the Sunday we sing.  Men Of God offers music a few times during the year making it a perfect choir for you if you cannot manage a large time commitment.

  • Joyful Singers is a choir especially for adult women’s voices. A variety of sacred choral music is presented for worship at the 8:15 Traditional Service, and a few times during the year at the 10:45 Contemporary Service. All women are extended a warm welcome. We join with other Music Ministry groups from First United Methodist Church for special music during the Christmas and Easter seasons. The Joyful Singers rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the church.

  • Brass WaveBrass Wave Bell Choir is an adult bell choir. The bell choir practices the Tuesday before the third Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Old Fellowship Hall. We have four octaves of bells and occasionally perform arrangements that incorporate vocal and/or instruments. Currently, the Brass Wave is made up of 13 bell ringers. Our group of mostly women of all ages, as well as a few young men,  could use some more “back up” ringers for anyone who would like to join. The group performs the third Sunday of each month at both the 8:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship services. The Brass Wave is directed by Kim Decker.

  • A Choir On Fire is made up of Middle School and High School students interested in Contemporary Christian music and spreading the Word in singing. We focus on praising God in song. This young group of singers perform in the church three or four times a year, and hold practices a few weeks prior to when A Choir On Fire is scheduled to sing.  Cheryl Armstrong is the choir’s director.

  • Carollers are our grade school choir, under the direction of Kristin Ives.  They love to sing and have performed several times this year with our adult choirs and bells for special occasions.  They also take part in a Christmas Musical, last season with a Western theme.  They typically sing in church each month except for summers.

  • Cherubs are a group of about 10 to 15 children who love music. The children are aged 3 to kindergarten. The Cherubs meet on Wednesday from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Practices include singing, bell ringing, rhythm activities, sharing and playing together. The group is usually scheduled to perform on the first Sunday of each month at both the 8: 15 and 10:45 worship times, Sept. through May. The Cherubs are directed by Kim Decker.
